Considerations when partnering with a corporate sponsor for fundraising

The cause that you are running or supporting needs financial assistance. One of the best ways to have a permanent source of fundraising is to have a corporate partner who can help you out in your efforts and shares a similar vision to that you maintain.

Before partnering with any corporate, it is important that one must look for certain things and see whether the partnership is worth having or not. The purpose is to raise funds no doubt but one must be certain that the intention of both parties is the same.

Repute of the Corporate

What kind of reputation is being maintained by the business with which you are planning on partnering for your fundraisers? Is it one that runs its businesses with proper ethical practices or is questioned for how it operates? It is an important question to ask yourself and look for an answer.

Although a corporate partner may help you in getting greater funds, if they maintain bad business ethics or have a bad repute, it can harm yours in the longer run. People may not be very willing to trust you as well in future in wake of this partnership of yours.

Line of Work

This is another very important factor to consider. What is the line of the work of the organization that will be partnering you in the cause for greater good? Ideally it should not be something that does something to the contrary of the cause it is supporting.

It will not be a great idea to have a tobacco manufacturer helping you out with a cause for creating health awareness amongst the masses as it will be completely opposite to their line of work.

The Benefits

Also make sure that the partnership is not being undertaken by this organization to boost sales and improve upon it repute. Often a part of the sales is given to various causes while promoting it infinitely. However the idea behind the whole affair is boost sales while trying to tell the world about the nobility of the company.

Avoid such partnerships as you will probably get peanuts in comparison of the benefit the company will drive out through strong marketing campaigns. Look for a partner that is not interested in its benefits but more so in the success of the cause.
